I love this garbage can and the lid opens and shuts as described. I use 13-gallon garbage bags and just make sure that the back of the bags (back of the lid) is pushed down a little, then it works great.Trash is a big problem at our home. Trying to not get overwhelmed by smells and bugs is of primary importance because I can't take the garbage out daily as I am handicapped. This bronze beauty has a washable liner and a lid that fits tightly and it looks great in my kitchen. Unfortunately, hubby was not careful enough and the top is now scratched. The rear carrier/handle makes it easy to balance and manuever becausevitbis heavy. For myself, I wish it had a way to open from the top because I am not good stepping on openers.It's a trash can, serving its purpose well.Matches my other appliancesI have had this trash can for 3 months and the closing mechanism is broken already.I contacted Luckies and within hours had a response. A replacement is on the way.Arrived quickly and on opening the trash can I found TWO MORE foot-pedal operated cans inside, small ones suitable for bathroom, etc. and not mentioned at all in the ad for this. All look very solidly built, they work smoothly, a 13 gallon bag fits easily to the inner removable container of the large trash can. The connecting rod from the pedal to the lid that lifts the lid is a quarter inch thick steel and strong, not thin or plastic. This is a good deal.I know it is a trash can, but it beat what all it was expecting. It is taller and very well made very sturdy. I would definitely recommend..Very nice trash can! The only problem I have is the 13 gal trash bags I bought at Sam's Club don't stretch over the top of can. And the dog has not figured out how to open this can, hands free he knows how to.
