Description
This is a story of a shy, introverted baby boomer and his struggles growing into adulthood. It is about a time that is fading further into the darkness of history and a neighborhood, while still with us, is no longer a bustling manufacturing center, where cotton became cloth. It was a time of assassinations, war, civil turmoil and a rapidly changing culture. Our “Greatest Generation” was giving way to the “Baby Boomers”, of which I am a proud member. This story narrates the times of a decade unlike any other in the 20th century, as seen through my eyes. It chronicles a family’s love and conflicts. It recounts how a young boy struggled in school and yet would eventually complete graduate and post graduate degrees. It tells of how he grappled every day to find his place in Augusta Georgia, in a neighborhood called Harrisburg, at an intersection I call Broad at Perkins.
