After doing so much research that I never wanted to look at another vent hood, I pulled the trigger and purchased this Kobe 36" insert range hood for our complete kitchen remodel. Ironically, this was the first item I purchased for our remodel and the last item we installed almost a year after purchase (we did the remodel ourselves...). The hood is installed and we've used it several time but it's not completely finished (the wood and drywall box around it are done but not finished/painted); I'll try to remember to come back and post a pic when it's all prettied up.First, this hood is really pretty. It walks that line between industrial and sleek quite well. Our new kitchen is transitional in style and this fits in very nicely.Second, this thing sucks a lot of air! We usually use it on 3 (range is 1-5) and watch it pull the steam from a pot of boiling water right up out of the room. Ours is installed to reach 18" from our ceiling which puts it above the recommended 36" above the cooktop (I think it's at 42-48" above) and it works perfectly up that high. This is great because it does not impede our sightlines looking into our now open-concept, beautiful kitchen. We wanted a hood to just blend in visually, and this one does, but still works really well to suck up heat, steam, grease, and odor. Finally, this hood has some really nice features:- The grease pans are really easy to remove for cleaning.- The lights are great. The bright setting provides excellent task lighting and lights up our cooktop quite nicely, even from the higher install point. The lower settings are perfect for ambient lighting in the evening.- The available remote (you have to order it separately/directly from Kobe) is really nice for turning on the fan/lights without having to reach above the hot cooking surface. This was especially important for us knowing we planned to install our hood higher up. It has a magnetic back so that you can attach it to an appliance. We just stash ours in the drawer right next to the cooktop.- The "eco mode" is great for occasionally circulating air in the kitchen/house.So far, we love this hood and would highly recommend. I did immense amounts of research before choosing this brand/model and can say that this was the best value I found for the strength, lighting, and features it offers.Update March 2021: After having this installed for a longer time, we still love it. No issues at all and everything above still holds true. We actually USE our hood vent now since we like it, whereas before our remodel we never used it because it was grody and loud - LOL.
