I had never seen a square garbage disposal countertop button before. It looks so much nicer than the round one that I used to have. It also seems to fit a little snugger than the old one.The switch was brass and not plastic like we normally install. Good switch for the money.Somehow the plastic body button that came with the disposal cracked in half after 8 years. It was probably tightened too much on installation, but just now finally gave up. I decided to spend just a few more dollars for the brass one. It's so much nicer. I'm sure it won't fail like the plastic one, and the action of the button is just a more refined push. It's such a small difference, but it's the little things in life that make me happy. The "feel" of a button push is a first world concern, but I appreciate it.I love the look and solid feel of this unit, but I can't recommend it as it has a problem sticking when you push the button down. I installed it about six months ago, and quite honestly my wife uses it the bulk of the time. I thought she was crazy when she complained that the button would occasionally not pop back up after it was turned on. Checked it out myself, and she wasn't wrong. I tried spraying some dry lubricant--which seemed to help--but after a few weeks it went right back to consistently sticking. On a couple of occasions I had to crawl under the sink to unplug the disposal. Over time the button would come back up, but obviously having to unplug the appliance is one to many times. I'm a kitchen/bathroom remodel contractor and have installed plenty of air switches without this kind of problem. This is the first time buying this particular product. Looks good and feels well built, but can't recommend.I can't believe what I paid for this air switch. The one that came with my disposal was plastic junk, so I took a chance and ordered this as a replacement. It is SOLID brass, and super heavy duty. I can't believe the price I paid - it should be more like double or triple this cost. Others are charging more for cheaper stuff. Unreal how impressed I am with this purchase! This button is very well made and is good looking. BUT, there are two fatal design flaws that will cause the button to stay down if any liquid gets into the piston. That will happen because it is near the sink!Mine laster 15 months, maybe because we very rarely use the disposer. The piston is flat so when pushed to the bottom air cannot get in to allow the spring to return the button. also the air inlet does not work.I got it to work by thoroughly cleaning and drying it out. Maybe it will last another year.A very high quality air switch that is tall enough to fit in a 2" thick countertop. I like the nut and screws to secure the switch to the counter to prevent it from spinning. The only minor thing I don't like is the manufacturer name on the top of the switch. How it's positioned requires the switch to be "clocked", making installation harder than it needs to be.My husband installed this air switch for our garbage disposal. It is a quality item which looks nice on our counter and works easily. It is better than the switch it replaced.
