It's a garbage disposal. It's a GE. It's their middle range model. It does the job without costing too much. We don't do silly stuff like expect it to chop up pork chop bones, or just scrape our dirty plates into it instead of the garbage can, or pour hot fry oil down the hole. So it does what we ask of it, without a lot of noise. It does not shriek when it's empty like our old one did. Hook up was as easy as any other disposal. No leaks, no worries, it doesn't vibrate the steel sink. To be fair, we might use it a total of 5 minutes a day, and that's a lot. So we expect it to last forever. Another good product from GE. Happy customer.instructions to install were not clear ut once installed it works wellIt was an exact fit to replace my old disposal which made installation easy.So far all is well. I'll get back to this review the day it has a problem I can't fix. This disposer is NOISY, rough running, and not very powerful!!! I replaced a noisy, off balance cheap Badger that had a stuck blade (a common problem with them) and this one is not only noisier, but pounds away like it's even more out of balance, like there is food in it that just won't grind up. It rattles and vibrates things on the counter when you turn it on. And it was this way out of the box. Second issue is the small throat for pushing food into it. It's tiny!. The plastic construction requires a thicker wall therefore reducing internal diameter. It tightens into the sink with a large plastic flange nut that, if tightened too much could break. I am also concerned about stress and fatigue cracking. Third, is that the flange's quick attachment method is harder to install than the old snap ring and clamp and twists the outlet flange out of position when you twist it on. No amount of tightening seems to prevent it. It's all plastic. Fourth, the sink flange is incorrectly made for anything other than a recessed flat-bottom stainless sink. I's square cornered and sits higher than the surrounding sink bottom in my Kohler porcelain cast iron sink causing water to pool behind it. I believe it is the result of the thicker plastic that must be used. I've been hoping it would break so I can replace it inder warranty.I am giving it two stars only because it does grind food pretty well and the plug-in cord is nice (although I had to install an outlet box to make it work). Not recommended and won't buy again.Product works perfect and was easy to installWe replaced our old one with this and it fit perfectly and was easy to install. Not sure what made me purchase this particular unit but I'll never do it again. The unit was advertized as coming 'with plug,' which I took to mean it had a power plug: Wrong. In this case, it comes with a knock-out plug for the dishwasher, but no power plug. After receiving my disposer in the mail, I needed to purchase a power plug adapter, which wasn't all that big of a deal...but...whoa...just wait until you fire this thing up. It's hard to imagine a noisier disposer. It's several times louder than the much cheaper disposer it replaced. Seriously. The apparent sound dampening material on the upper portion of the picture used to describe this product simply does not exist. My unit is as thin at the top as it is at the bottom, which is to say there is absolutely no sound absorbing material whatsoever. This thing is louder than my washing machine, dishwasher and refrigerator...all combined. Please do not buy this item. There should be a law against posting a photograph of something that quite simply does not exist. What I bought is round and black...but that's about as far as the comparison goes.
